Eugene C. Jekel taught general and analytical chemistry. During the period between 1964 and 1991, Jekel, who received a Chemical Manufacturers Association Catalyst Award for Excellence in College Chemistry Teaching in 1985, conducted twenty-two National Science Foundation-funded summer institutes and workshops for high school teachers of second-year and Advanced Placement chemistry that became renowned for their organization and thoroughness.
